Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
The resorts strategies to achieve this continual improvement are:
1) To Build and operate the FAST sewage treatment system and reduce effluent nutrient and bacteria load on the fringing reef.
2)To investigate methods of reducing solid waste generated on the island and minor efficient and environmental sound methods of disposal
3) To provide support for Coral reef conservation and environmental protection programs in the Mamanuca area collaboratively with the resource owners/land owners and other tourism enterprises
4) To investigate ground water quality on the island an if practicable, remediate any previous environmental harm.
5) As secondary priorities to the above three key aspects, to attempt to reduce energy consumption and improve water efficiency on the island.
